Starting up Pocket DOS
Starting up a TTS System
If you are on a Windows-looking screen (icons and date and time shown along with battery level on the Allegro CX) or on a Windows-Mobile screen on any other of our Microsoft Windows-based handheld units, there is a way for you to start up your DOS legacy applications.
On the Allegro CX unit, you will see an icon saying Pocket DOS or TTS Apps. If you see that, you simply double click the icon; and Pocket DOS will start up and, normally, the Application Menu will be displayed after about 10 - 15 seconds. If the menu does not show up, simply type in GO and press Enter. Note: You may not see GO as you type it in, but just do so and it will work. If it doesn't work the first time, try pressing the Enter key first and then typing in GO and pressing Enter (Case for GO does not matter. GO or go or Go or gO all work).
On the Trimble Ranger or the Trimble Nomad, you start up Pocket DOS by pressing the large upward pointing arrow key. They are on different sides of the keyboard if you have one of each. On the Ranger, it is on the left side of the keyboard; and on the Nomad, it is on the right side of the keyboard. These keys normally are preprogrammed to start up Pocket DOS.
On the Nautiz X3, X5, and X7, the top left key on the keyboard has been programmed to start up Pocket DOS. You may also click the Start Flag (top left of the screen) and then select Pocket DOS from the Start Menu.
On the Allegro MX, there is no quick start button. You must click the Start Flag and then select Pocket DOS from the Start Menu.
On the Ranger and the Nautiz units and the Allegro MX, the application menu is not brought up directly. On the Trimble Ranger and the Allegro MX, press enter, type in GO, and press Enter. On the Nautiz X3, X5, X7 and the Trimble Nomad, press Enter, press 1, and press Enter.
After about 3 seconds your Application Menu will be displayed.
