Registering Pocket DOS
Registering Pocket DOS
Why is it Necessary?
Each handheld unit has a unique copy of Pocket DOS. When we loaded your unit, we bought a copy for you and registered your unit. We owe the developer a royalty on each handheld unit we sell that runs their software. It is not free. If the copy of Pocket DOS is not registered, it runs in Demo Mode. It is fully usable in demo mode, but every 5 minutes or so you will get a popup window notifying you that you are using an unregistered copy of the system. The copy of Pocket DOS you are running must be registered to get out of Demo mode.
Why is the User Name Important?
The user name that is entered under Customer Information generates an 8 character code that is used to generate a registration code. The User Name must be TTS (all in caps). If the User Name is not TTS, then the system will convert over to Demo mode (see above). Note: There is a 2nd line under User Name where you can place your own company information and address, but the User Name cannot be changed.
How Do I Get the Registration Code?
Your unit came already registered if you bought the unit from us. If you go into Help (at the bottom of the Pocket DOS screen), you will see an entry on Registering Pocket DOS. If you start up that option, you will see the Registration Code. It won't be removed just because you changed the User Name, it just runs in Demo mode. You will have to exit Pocket DOS, change the User Name back to TTS, and then restart it. Then start up the Registration process again and select Unlock. It should work.
If you don't see a Registration Code, you likely deleted it manually. You will have to call our support number to get the Unlock Code. At that time, we can verify that the unit did indeed come from us and has (had) a registered copy of Pocket DOS on it.
Note: We will not supply Registration Codes to users who bought units from other companies that also supply DOS legacy applications for their handheld units. This way we can ensure that the initial supplier's software is not being pirated or loaded onto another unit for free.
