Microsoft Access
What is Microsoft Access?
Microsoft Access is the application that is used to run all of our PC-based systems. None of our PC-based applications (ending with .MDB) will run unless you have a legal copy of Microsoft Access. Microsoft Access can be bought on its own (not in a bundle), or can be purchased as part of a Microsoft Office package (normally also consisting of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher, Outlook, etc.).
Our PC-based systems will run on the following verions:
Microsoft Access 2003
Microsoft Access 2007
Microsoft Access 2010
The 2003 and 2007 versions will work on Windows XP, but the 2010 version only works on Windows Vista and Windows 7. Some of the features of our applications will not run under Microsoft Access 2010 on a Windows XP computer, so it is best to stay with an earlier version if you are still running Windows XP.
If you are using Microsoft Access, make sure that you set it up properly before you use it. You might want to review the following sections if Access was not loaded and set up for you when you purchased your system:
Microsoft Access Setup Tasks
Microsoft Office Security Options (Microsoft Trust Center)
Enabling Options
Desired Menu Icons (Quick Access Toolbar Short Cuts)
Once these steps have been completed, your system should run without problems.
