Allegro CE
Juniper Systems Allegro CE
History:
This CE.Net system was one of the earliest handheld units made by Juniper Systems. This model superceded the Allegro CE/DOS when Juniper Systems decided that there was a market for Windows handheld units as well as DOS based units. When the CE/DOS units ended their run in 2002 the Allegro CE and the Allegro DOS handheld units came out.
It is now out of production. However, Juniper Systems continues to support this model and can make most repairs that are necessary.
Timber & Transportation Sale of this Unit:
Over the lifespan of the Allegro CE, we only sold two of this type of unit. At the time that this unit came out, we were primarily selling DOS based applications and the Allegro DOS handheld unit filled our need. There was no need for touchscreen applications, so the only two units that we sold were bought on the aftermarket and resold to existing customers needing a backup unit.
This unit takes an almost nonexistent version of Pocket DOS to run our handheld units, but if you come across one at a good price we can stil load it up for you.
Handheld Value:
On the aftermarket, do not pay more than $500 for this type of unit. It is on average 7 - 8 years old. Useful life would probably be only 1 - 2 years before even a good condition unit would need being repaired.
