Mini-Reporting Programs

Updates Offered

All customers that are using one of our PC mini-printing programs can take advantage of this offer.  Up until the end of 2010, all of you are printing directly from your memory sticks because the application is located there.  We have found when using new memory sticks, the drive letters changed and it required relinking files.  The average life of a memory stick used on a daily basis is less than 1 year, so we have had to help at least half of the 60 - 70 current users copy files to a new memory stick and then relink them.

We have found a solution to this problem, and it allows you to make as many useable memory sticks as you might need and not have to worry about this problem.

Here is the procedure:

  • Copy one (or more) of the 4 batch files that we provide links for to each memory stick that you have.  The name of the batch file should be indication enough to you on which ones you need.  You must insert the memory stick into the USB port on your PC/Laptop/Netbook before you do this.  Once inserted, click on the link below.  Then hover the mouse over the link, press the right mouse button ant then click save.  You will next select the destination folder which you need to make the root directory of your memory stick.  The memory stick drive letter was shown to you in the top right of the screen when you inserted it.  Note:  If you double click on the folder rather than single clicking you wil also get a run or save message but you can't specify the destination if you select Save.  It will go into your Downloads folder and that is not where you want it to go.
  • Next, copy the various folders that you have on your memory stick to the C: drive on your PC.  The folders are normally called:  LOGS     GRADER    CRUISE     BUNDLE     PACKAGE     or   PURCHASE.  To do this, open up your memory stick to see its contents.  If you just finished step # 1 above, it is already open and you see one or more of these folders.  Simply click on the folder once to highlight it.  Press Ctrl-C (hold the Ctrl key down and press C).  This copies the file.  Next go to the C: drive on  your PC or laptop and paste the folder there.
  • You already have Microsoft Access set up on the PC where you have been running the application, so you are almost done.
  • Give us a call (731-697-9197) and Greg will help you relink the files so that they will be found on the C: drive from now on.  He will also make sure that the folder that you copied in step # 2 is in the Trust Center.  The whole process with Greg should take less than 10 minutes if you have your memory stick with you.  If you want, you can have him help you with steps # 1 and # 2 also.

You are ready now to make use of the new procedure.  You won't need the shortcut on your desktop any longer, we don't want to use it.  You can delete it since I am going to tell you next how to run the new version.

After you have copied files to your flash memory stick that has one or more of the batch files I told you to copy in step # 1, stick it into your PC.  Normally you will see a message similar to that below:

  Note:  Drive N is used.

Select Continue without scanning.  You will get a screen similar to the next screen.

Click the Open folder to view files option.

Once you clicked on the Open Folder, you will see a screen similar to the one above.  As you see on the right side of the screen, there are 4 Start batch files.  You click on the ones that you see.  You won't see what I am showing you on the right side of the screen.  This is my stick, not yours.  My memory stick has batch files that starts up a cruise reporting system, a lumber end tall system, a green chain grading system, and a Log Reporting system.  All you have to do is double click on your batch file to start up the process.

What you will see is that all of the files you copied down to the memory stick are now copied over to your PC.  In addition, the program that uses those files is automatically started up; and you are shown the Introduction Page.

If you relinked the files properly, and you set up the folder in the Trust Center, your application will then open.

When you have accomplished all of these steps, you can make as many copies of the memory sticks as you want by simply copying all of the files from one stick to a new stick.  You won't have to worry about relinking files, and you won't have to worry about setting up multiple trust locations.

All of this service is free, and you have an unlimited amount of time to get it done.  There is no time limit, but the sooner you get done, the fewer problems you will have and the fewer support calls we will get.
